A cheap way to increase the value of you property and increase your amount of
living space is to convert your loft. With house prices sky rocketing
and families getting bigger all the time it’s sometimes simply easier to stay
put and better utilize what you already have.
There are five standard types of loft conversions:
Rear Dormer Loft Conversion
This creates a square end to the back of your house and has a flattened roof, which creates much more extra floor space and height. In most terraced and semi detached properties this is possible, and allows a greater choice of rooms within the loft space.
Front/Side Dormer Loft Conversion
These smaller dormers are constructed to match the existing style of your property and are used to replace a hip to gable construction.
Hip to Gable Loft Conversion
This style of conversion changes the sloping side of your property to a flat gable end,
creating much more loft space and with the possibility of space for the staircase.
Mansard Loft Conversion
This conversion is to the rear of your property which has a flat roof, however the major difference is that the back wall slopes inwards at an angle of 72 degrees and windows are housed in small dormers.
The roof line is unaltered with this type of conversion and a room is simply created in your existing loft space.
